  According to AJWRB the organization, thru some HLC's has already allowed witnesses to use 'Hemopure', which is the bovine equivalent to the product mentioned here - just pure hemoglobin without the cell walls -as stated that is 97% of the RBC.

  I think this is the direction that the organization is going to take - personally. They have to do it with great care and graduation to avoid lawsuits for wrongful deaths in the past. The new 'blood card' is the next step to making witnesses think they can chose for themeselves - next will come analogous transfusions, then a complete removal of the restrictions. They will maintain the doctrine for a long time - but will allow witness to excercise the conscience - thus protecting themselves from open accusation and litigation. It might become a non-issue in reality - just a doctrine kept with no punishment attached.

  ending a "bible" study concerns

  first off i'd like to say what a pleasure it is to read the threads here and to say as well that it's quite refreshing to see the milk of human kindnes shared so freely here.. i just moved back east and have been staying with my 82 year old mom who's been a jw for 35 years (she's happy as a clam).

  knowing she'd appreicate the company going to the sunday meetings plus the 2 hour "school" i thought i could also form my own opinion on their "truth" ...so i did't research the "apostate web sites" till i had formed my own opinion...well 6 months (read) 125 hours at the kingdom hall later and my heart tells me that this "truth" is not for me.. the problem:.

  i'd like to quit the "bible" study that sucks up 1 1\2 hours each week...but i'm wondering if "the gang" is going to put any pressure on my dear old mom (again she's 82 years old) to get me to resume my bible study ?

  Keep up the kindness with dear old Mom - that is the big thing here.

  I think that the advise to go easy on discussions with the 'bros' about these websites is good. They may cause your mom to fear your association. Just depends on the locals there. My cousin started to try to have intellectual discussions with his 'elder' teacher, a few years ago - and got accused of being 'apostate' - then I think basically shunned after. I was not too close to him so I never got more than that. So you never know.

  I think you could soon let them call off the study - just always spend your time when they come talking about other things, offer them coffee and pie, bring up the news, and most of all never prepare for the lesson. Answer as you believe during the study and not from the paragraphs - this will disorient them and they will call it off soon, leaving you to your own devices - and they will not bother to try and accuse you of apostasy -

  of course, it trots out the usual formula of half truths that has brought the watchtower.

  What I find really annoying is the fact that they ALWAYS ask everything as a question.

  Poztate - you are right about that. I don't know the official form of argumentation - but the posing of leading questions is an expert way to direct those who you want to go in only one line of thought. They have to do that or dubs might start drawing intelligent conclusions - we wouldn't want any one guilty 'freethink' would we?

  Anybody else affected by the winter storm?

  i awoke this morning to the sound of creaking and breaking tree branches in my neighborhood, one after the other, due to the heavy accumulation of ice from last night's storm.. unfortunately, one of the trees in my backyard is a complete wreck, and it fell on my power lines, breaking them.

  i drove around the neighborhood a bit and the tree carnage is like nothing i've ever seen.. also, in a span of 3 to 4 hours i saw probably 8 bright green flashes of power transformers popping.

  i probably will not have power for at least 3 days, probably more.

  I woke up to about 10 inches in Indiana. Powers on, babys warm, and I have apples cooking on the stove. Yesterday we ventured out for a sled ride (her 1st!)

  Melba - you are in Indiana? thought your legend said somewhere else - We are in Northern Indiana and we got a pretty good hit lst nite here - but some areas got it worse i know. We have about 6 or 7 inches of fresh stuff - but the sun has popped out now - nice really. But cold is coming tonight - I think about -10 or so. And dratts - I have to work outside in it!

  Boy I like the smell of fresh apples cooking - save me the smell!!

  make it as serious or as preposterous as you like.. here's two scenarios to begin with.

  I'm afraid there are only 2 ways of being a true believin' Christian

  the first way is to be completely ignorant.to ignore the fact that the bible is a hopelessly flawed man made document, and all other reasoned argument and evidence that points to the non existence of the christian god.

  this strategy basically involves living inside mental cocoon and closing your eyes to any alternative views.

  the best way to employ this tactic is to perform a whole lot repetitive and ritualistic action; a whole lot of head bowing and praying etc... etc....you know the drill!.

  I trust the Bible - no excuses needed. Parts are prob metaphor, agreed.

  I believe in God -and Prayer -and I am intellegent, capable, at the same time.

  I just don't believe in JW brand of Christianity - that is why I am here.

  i remember one time at an assembly these two "brothers" were actually arguing over thier seats.

  i thought they were going to go to blows.

  isn't it funny how during the regular meeting nobody wants to set in the front rows, but boy at an assembly everyone wants to have that "showy means of display" by being in the front rows to be seen by all?

  Franklin - I feel the same. 30 years baptized, and b4 that all I knew back to 5 yrs old - I have 45 years of it in my system - some times one needs to regurgitate!!!

  Lessons require less thinking

  i have noticed something for the last couple of years.

  the lessons appear to me much easier and less meaty (this has been discussed at length).

  however, something i haven't seen discussed too often is the changes that have occurred in the thinking portion of preparing for the meetings.

  I knew of one elder who made trips up and down the aisles of the KH to observe just how many were 'studying' for the WT study program. What he really looked for was how many had 'marked' his/her lesson with nice bright yellow lines! He actually reported his findings to the CO!

  As previous stated; there is no studying going on here - just underlining the main points of indoctrination!

  i have been bothered for some time by the sneaking suspicion that the publisher increases published annually are never realized in a tangible way.

  therefore, i sat down and studied a 10 year period of what has been published by the society to see if i could get a warm and fuzzy feeling about these increases.

  after hours i have realized the following:

  I agree with some that state that the hours and publisher numbers are skewed.

  In our rural congregation, esp in winter, I never saw an honest hour of service reported.! Most days would begin with 'starting our time' at an old 'not at home', or a house or two in territory near the hall. Then we would drive helter-skelter all over the territory in the county to make a rv here and there, mostly they were not at home anyway. Combine that fact with six or eight of us crammed into a mini-van, and suddenly you had 6 persons X 3 hours = 18 hours. Persons witnessed to - sometimes none. But we had extinguished the guilt for another week!

  Also - most witnesses make sure the kids report some time every month - so they drag the kids out every Saturday or two for the morning - they all report 3 hours apeice - talk to virtually no one that listens to them - but they 'place' a lot of lit - cause they are 'cute' - all dressed up like little preachers. So this 'time' is counted - but can hardly be called effective witnessing about the faith of JW's - but then most of the adult witnessing is mo better is it? Very few witnesses ever witness about anything - just place some mags and go home. Reporting time is that whole thing - if u want to keep the privilages!!!

  what does the elder manual say the procedure is when someone reports child abuse?

  my father in law is telling my wife that is says to go straight to the proper authorities... i have a hard time buying that since thats not what the watchtowers i've seen have said!

  any one have the low down on this?

  Though not directed precisely at child abuse the following might apply;

  Though it is not the responsibility of the Christian
  congregation to enforce Caesar's laws, yet the very nature
  of some crimes demands that they be reported to secular
  authorities.

  It may be necessary to encourage the wrongdoer to turn
  himself in to secular authorities. Before any steps are
  taken in this regard, contact the branch office. of course,
  review the latest Society directives on such matters before
  proceeding. Although not enforcers of Caesar's laws, in cases that also
  involve the breaking of God's law, elders must give
  consideration to what has taken place.

  In my digital copy, I found no other specific references to this issue - but it may be in later editions since the issue has become such a political one for them.
